Hi Everyone

Well in case you all don't know, I love joining in on the challenges and today's card is no exception to this rule. Here is the challenge - it is a colour challenge and all four colours had to be used.

And here is my card

I have used the Inlaid Die Cutting Technique on the roses. What is this I hear you ask...? Well it is relatively simple. You cut each rose twice - once in pink and once in red. You then paper piece the pink pieces inside the red outline and the red pieces inside the pink outline. If you look carefully at the roses you will see that I have paper pieced two with pink inside the red outline and
one with red inside the pink outline. There are several ways to do this but I find the easiest way is to glue the outline piece onto a piece of white cardstock and then fill in the individual pieces, glueing them to the white cardstock which is providing the backing. Then I fussy cut each rose out.

I cut a cardbase from Blushing Bride, it was an A4 piece of cardstock cut in half  @ [5 7/8"] & scored @ [4 1/8"], I then trimmed off  [1/2"] off the leading edge.

I cut Soft Sky Cardstock [2" x 5 7/8"] and matted this on the leading edge.
I cut Silver Glimmer Paper @ [1/2" x 5 7/8"] and matted this onto the Soft Sky.
I chose a piece of Sending Love DSP and cut it @ [2" x 5 7/8"]. I glued this on the inside back edge of the card, so when the card is closed you can see the DSP
I cut the leaves in Pear Pizzazz Cardstock but didn't paper piece those.
I embossed the Sentiment from Suite Sayings (have you seen those sentiments in that set?... totally amazing), on a vellum banner in Silver.

I then glued the leaves in place, popped two of the roses up on dimensionals and the third rose I put a double layer of dimensionals on so it sits higher than the other two roses.

I cut a tiny strip off  the dimensional sheet and fixed to the very edge of the vellum and slotted this under the tip of the rose, this hides "the workings". Vellum is so transparent that any glue or fixing is visible, so you have to be creative about fixing it on there without the fixings being seen.

There you have it. The Inlaid Die Cutting Technique.
Why don't you give it a try?

You can use this technique with any detailed die you may have in your crafty stash but if you want to use the Rose Garden thinlits (and in truth these particular thinlits makes this technique a breeze because the pieces are all quite large and so not quite so fiddly), click on the icon at the end of the post, it will take you directly to my shop, in fact you can get all the supplies I have used on this card there.

I admit this is quite a technique heavy card but the results are,( I'm sure you will agree), worth the effort and let's face it whose Mother isn't worth the effort on Mother's Day!
Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think of the technique.

I will be back on Thursday with a more simple make. I am off to make final preparations for my First Wednesday Card Class, so named because it is on the First Wednesday of each month...lol. If you are interested in joining my happy band of ladies drop me an email. We always love to see new faces.

In the meantime Happy Stamping!
Oh Wish Me Luck With  the Challenge!

Hi Everyone

Hope you are having a good weekend. As promised I am here with an extra blog post to show you another card I made with the theme "Winged Creatures". Today's card is very different.

Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock A4 (European Size) in half @ 14.9cm [5 7/8"]Score at 10.5cm [4 1/8"]
Cut a piece of Whisper White card 4" x 5"
Cut a strip of Silver Foil 4" x 1/2"

  • On a piece of watercolour paper, stamp the Swan in Smoky Slate, and fill in with the aquapainter & smoky slate ink
  • Using an aquapainter with Soft Sky ink colourwash below the Swan.
  • Using the dots from Playful Backgrounds stamp dots on top of the water in Bermuda Bay,

TIP : Ink the stamp, stamp on scrap paper then using what is left on the stamp, stamp onto the colourwash, this is called second generation or shadow stamping and gives a softer effect. It is great for adding visual layering.
  • Cut then Swan image out with an oval framelit and layer onto a slightly larger oval with a decorative edge cut out in silver foil. Stamp the sentiment in Smoky Slate onto the Whisper White panel which you have criss crossed with ribbon, adhered at the back.
  • Stamp the swam image onto another piece of watercolor paper, with the aquapainter fill in the wing slightly with smoky slate ink and cut out the wing only. Using a dimensional pop it up over the wing of the  original stamped swan and embellish with rhinestones.
  • Using Bermuda Bay Ink and the Diagonal Stripe Stamp, stamp approx. two thirds of the cardfront.
  • Adhere the silver foil strip along the edge of the Whisper White panel & stick to the cardfront.
There you have it.

Hope you have enjoyed this quick tutorial.

The products I have used are in the links below.

Thanks for stopping by, leave me a comment below if you will.

Good Morning Peeps & Happy Saturday to you! I hope you have lots of good things planned for the weekend and for those of you in the UK I hope Storm Doris hasn't affected you too badly. For me it meant more time for crafting in my cosy Studio, which is no bad thing.

It is challenge time again over at the Global Design Project

As you can see the theme this week is "Winged Creatures". There are several  Stampin' Up stampsets & dies that could be used  for this theme but after giving it some thought I plumped for Pop of Paradise CLICK HERE

This is the card I made

Card Base

A4 Whisper White cardstock cut in half @ 14.9cm [5 7/8"]
Score @ 10.5cm [4 1/8"]

I stamped the Flamingo in Melon Mambo and fussy cut, I stamped it again on a separate piece of card and just fussy cut the wing. With a glue dot I stuck a piece of pink feather on the Flamingo over wing and put the the other wing on top with a dimensional.
For the background I used the Sunburst thinlit Die  CLICK HERE  & I cut it in  Whisper White Cardstock & then stamped the dots in Melon Mambo, to see the dots CLICK HERE. I stuck this diecut onto the Whisper White cardbase. Next I cut  the leaves, twice, using the Flourish Thinlits die, CLICK HERE then applied Versamark directly to the leaves from the pad & embossed with silver. Using a Circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits CLICK HERE I cut 2 circles, one in Melon Mambo CS and one in Vellum. I then took a smaller Circle die  CLICK HERE & cut out the middle of the Melon Mambo circle, so I was left with a ring. I then arranged the diecut leaves, circles & the Flamingo to make a topper. I stamped the banner in black ink and fussy cut, I popped a rhinestone onto the neck of the Flamingo and used black & white sequins to balance the design.

I am quite pleased with the finished card, I hope you like it too.
Pop by tomorrow & will show you another card I made using the "Winged Creature" theme but using a different stampset.

That's all for now

Happy Stamping!

Good Morning Everyone

Well I am finally getting to grips with adjustments on my blog, but over the next few weeks you may notice some slight changes. Today's change is that I have altered the size of the text, which I think I prefer, bear with me on this, it will eventually all settle down.

However, onto the blog candy. Here is a card I received in a Swap some time back from Kathy Schaffer, it uses the same stampset, Avant Garden that I used in the card I showed you here, again a quick reminder this set is FREE yes, absolutely FREE with a £45 spend in the Catalogue. If you want to go shopping (& let's face it, you know you do ;) After all a bargain is a bargain! ) click here

This card is sooo pretty, the Soft Sky and Blushing Bride cardstock are look amazing together. Do you see the Doily Peeping out from the panel they are the new Falling in Love doilies & they are so clever, they are cream on one side and white on the other, so you can have whichever side you want on your card. It is also really easy to sponge them with ink to make them match any project you make. Kathy has used the cream side here and then the very vanilla satin ribbon, with the little pearls to carry the cream through. A very simple, pleasing card that lifts the spirits and makes me think of Summer days to come!  What do you think? Leave me a comment below and let me know.
See you Friday!

A Day At the Seaside & Stampin' Up Avant Garden with Delicate Details

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a good weekend whatever you got up to. Mr Tom & I went to the seaside yesterday and what a great day we had. A fish & chip lunch at Rye, and we bumped into a neighbours having lunch in the same place, (one brief window of sunshine and we all head down to the coast for the day), then on to Hastings for coffee & ice-cream & finally back to our local at Farningham for a glass of wine! A lovely day, taking in both the seaside and the kentish villages on the way back. This is a favourite day out for us, we do it each year both in spring and midsummer and I always look forward to it. I noticed when we were walking back to the car in Farningham we could hear the birds singing, what a welcome sound!  This always heralds the end of winter to me and the promise of spring days to come. I took a few piccies in Hastings, do you see the Cable car on the cliff?....when you go up you get an amazing view over the bay. For those of you that visit this blog from overseas, Yes! this is the Hastings of William the Conqueror, 1066 The Battle of Hastings etc.

Anyhow, as interesting as this doubtless is. I now want to show you a make from last week featuring the Avant Garden Stamp Set and the Delicate Detail, (how pretty is this lace stamp!), you can choose either of these stampsets for FREE during Saleabration when you spend £45.00. If you are interested in this offer click here.
If you have an eagle eye you will have spotted some the of the  Affectionately Yours Washi Tape which offsets the flower that I stamped in Watermelon Wonder. The cardstock is Soft Suede as is the ink I used for the Lace, Sentiment & Flower stem. A little linen thread makes the perfect addition to this card. I LOVE it! What do you think? Leave me a comment and let me know.

If you are looking for a Stampin' Up Demonstrator I would be delighted if you chose me.
Thanks for dropping by.

Colour Inspirations #CI103 with Bella and Friends, Stampin' Up

Good Morning Everyone... Yaay It's the weekend!

I hope you all have good plans for the weekend and find some time to craft.

I am dropping by to show you the card I made for a Colour Challenge over on Facebook here with the Colour Inkspiration Team.

I have used the Bella and friends stampset which is just the cutest...IMHO.

Why Not Give it a Try ?

Cut the cardbase in Marina Mist cardstock

A4 cut in half @ 14.9cm [5-7/8"]

Scored @10.5 cm [4- 1/8"]

Card Front
Peekaboo Peach - Sunburst Thinlit Die Cut

Whisper White Thick cardstock cut [4-1/8"] wide, cropped with Detailed Floral Thinlit edger die at approx. [4-1/2"]. This is not an exact measurement, it needs to be judged so that enough of the Sunburst Die Cut peeps out at the top.

Adhere the Peekaboo Peach Sunburst die cut onto the Marina Mist Card Base.

Embossed the Whisper White panel with the Softly Falling embossing folder.

Stamp the Bella image on the panel with the greeting. Stamp Bella again on a separate piece of scrap whisper white and colour her and the balloon in, cut them out pop them onto dimensionals and layer them over the same stamped images on the Whisper White panel.

Adhere this panel onto the card front over the Peekaboo Peach Sunburst die cut. Put some enamel stars and dots in Peekaboo Peach on the cardfront and there we have it, all finished!

If you do want to give this card a try, the supplies can be purchased here.

Enjoy your weekend.
Happy Stamping!

Stampin' Up Dragonfly Dreams Bundle Occasions Catalogue Thank You Card

Good Morning Everyone

Well here as I promised on Wednesday, here is another card made with the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle. This time I used the stampset only. Once I got started using these dies and stamps I couldn't stop and this was such a quick and easy card to make. I simply created a card base using Bermuda Bay cardstock. I then cut a white mat which I colourwashed  with Bermuda Bay ink using an aquapainter. I dried it off with my heat gun and then stamped the dots in Island Indigo, (which I stamped off once onto scrap paper). Next, I stamped the Dragonfly in Black & the sentiment (which I lined up underneath). I left a large enough gap between the Dragonfly and the sentiment to put in some ribbon (this ribbon is FREE during Saleabration when you spend £45 in the catalogue). I then mounted this white panel onto a piece of  black cardstock added some rhinestones on the body of the dragonfly and wink of stella on the wings which give them a lovely shimmer. A few rhinestones elsewhere make this quick and simple card a real winner.

While I had this bundle out, I couldn't resist making one more card with it. Here it is!

This time I used the Dragonfly Thinlit dies again and the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper, otherwise known as DSP. I inset the wings of the Dragonflies with Whisper White Cardstock to make them stand out from the background DSP.

So there we have it, I have been having so much fun using the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle, and I have so many more ideas for it. This is such a versatile set, it can be used for a birthday, a thank you card  a just a note or a thinking of you card. The possibilities are endless. A definite must have for any stampers stash. If you would like to purchase this Bundle click here and remember, up until the 31st March if you spend £45 in the catalogue you get to choose a free item from the Sale-a-bration Catalogue.

I will be back tomorrow with my entry for the Inkspiration Colour Challenge.

Until then

Happy Stamping!
